Guermassa troglodyte village and desert
A troglodyte village hidden in the heart of southern Tunisia, followed by a foray into the surrounding desert.
Overview
A few kilometres from Tataouine, the village of Guermassa is home to troglodyte dwellings dug into the hillside, even less well known than those of Matmata. The visit continues with a foray into the surrounding desert, among the tracks and arid landscapes of southern Tunisia.
Excursions into the uninhabited desert areas beyond Douz and Ksar Ghilane depend on authorisations from the ONTT (Tunisian National Tourist Office). If access is closed on your dates, we adapt the itinerary and let you know in good time.
