Ksar Ghilane, desert and oasis by 4x4
A day in the great erg: a direct road to the isolated oasis, a dip in the hot springs and, optionally, a 4x4 excursion into the dunes.
Overview
The road leads directly to Ksar Ghilane, a truly isolated oasis at the gates of the Grand Erg Oriental — accessible by ordinary car, no 4x4 needed.
Once there, a camel ride takes you to the natural hot springs, where you can swim all year round. Lunch is served in the shade of the palm trees, at the pace of the desert. For dune lovers, an optional 4x4 excursion is offered to the large surrounding dunes.
For departure, each guest is welcomed personally on arrival — at the airport, the hotel or the agreed meeting point — by a driver-guide from our Kairouan team, available for the whole day. This tour is also available by rental car, with or without a driver.
Excursions into the uninhabited desert areas beyond Douz and Ksar Ghilane depend on authorisations from the ONTT (Tunisian National Tourist Office). If access is closed on your dates, we adapt the itinerary and let you know in good time.
